Detroit’s Historic Art Institution Chooses Sound Planning for Complex Audio and Acoustic Integration
Sound Planning Communications was selected to design, fabricate and commission a permanent sound system coordinated with custom-made acoustical panels for the Great Hall inside the Detroit Institute of Arts on Woodward Avenue. The sound system also features a portable wireless system that will provide expansion into Rivera Court.
To properly attenuate the reverberation time in the Great Hall, Sound Planning’s in-house acoustic consultant has engineered custom printed acoustical panels. In addition, a sound reinforcement system was designed to work with a variety of room configurations and will accurately produce a full range of voice and music with a concentration on clarity and intelligibility, despite a naturally reverberant environment. The discreet sound system was installed to blend into the backdrop without becoming a distraction to the grand works of art. Blink and you might not spot the loudspeakers.
